Thanks to the care of Nardone Automotive, one of the most sparkling jewels of the transaxle dynasty of the Zuffenhausen house, the Porsche 928, wears an unprecedented Gran Turismo dress.

In the wise hands of Thierry Nardone and his team – among which the design of the Borromeo & De Silva studio stands out – the 928 becomes a GT in all respects, not only for its refined aesthetics and charm that has distinguished it since its debut in the Stuttgart line-up, but also thanks to the renewed V-shaped 8 cylinder engine that rumbles powerfully under the front hood.

Italtecnica, in close contact with Podium Advanced Technologies, has created the most powerful 5.0 V8 so far mounted on this model.

Entirely redesigned starting from the original block, cylinder heads and crankshaft, with the rest of the components made from scratch, the eight-cylinder is capable of delivering over 450 horsepower and more than 520 Nm of torque.

The work carried out around the three “construction pillars” obtained from the original engine was aimed at lightening and enhancing the engine structure, with the construction of lightened engine parts and reinforcement of the crankcase, now closed-deck, to allow an increase of over 1000 rpm on the maximum rotational speed.

By reworking the heads and replacing the springs, spring holders and camshafts, a substantial increase in volumetric efficiency was obtained, subsequently completing this improvement with a new carbon intake manifold, engineered by our R&D Team, and a new exhaust manifold.

To support the optimization of the work of the internal organs, which in the new engine allow a significant increase in overall performance, an adjustment of the lubrication system was carried out, through a careful revision of the oil sump bulkhead and oil degassing systems, completing the work with a new oil pump designed and made in-house.

The increase in performance required a redesign of the timing belt system, in order to increase its level of precision during operation at high angular speeds of the engine.

To the same extent, the cooling system has been optimized with the implementation of a new electrically controlled water pump.
